TESTIMONIALS

"My son Will and our family have been working with Dr. Munich for several years now. He has made an enormous impact on his life in both his athletic and academic journey, as well how we all communicate and deal with life’s tests as a family, both on and off the field. He has taught him skills that he can use as an athlete, how to prepare for practice or tournaments and to get through difficult times, as well as test taking and day to day struggles and anxiety with school. To have taught a teenager these skills at such a young age is profound. Dr Munich has also changed and opened our eyes as parents and coaches, how to help our boys and students with ways to cope with all types of pressure and to ensure we help them get the most out of their endeavors. He has taught us all life changing skills and we are forever thankful to Dr Munich whose work has been so invaluable to our family. As a parent I am forever grateful!!!"

"Working with Matt/Dr. Munich has taken my golf game to the next level. We have been working on my mental routine for almost a year now. Adding regular meditation and emotional awareness drills has easily taken 5 strokes off my golf game. Every athlete or performer will definitely benefit from working on the mental aspect of their game with Matt."

MATT MUNICH

I have been a lifelong competitor and student of sport. After a junior career playing in local and national squash tournaments, I played college squash at Cornell University, where I earned such honors as most valuable player, the sportsmanship award, and captaincy. After college, while serving as a club professional, I continued to compete individually, winning local tournaments, state championships, and playing several times at the top level of amateur squash, The S.L. Greene Championships, squash's United States Open. My competitive highlights include winning the 5.5 level national championship, and representing the United States internationally in the 1997 Maccabiah Games.

I also served as head of squash operations at two preparatory schools: The Kingswood Oxford School and The William Penn Charter School, where I worked with both boys and girls varsity squash teams. In these institutions, I honed his belief in mastery orientations: that process is not only better than product, but produces a better product.

In 2009, I decided to bring a more clinical focus to my work with athletes in order to help them with performance-based challenges. I attended the Smith College School for Social Work, where I conducted qualitative research on the experience of elite college athletes ("No Purer Joy: The Developmental, Social, and Motivational Aspects of Elite College Squash"). After graduating, I very quickly became immersed in the world of trauma psychology, helping veterans recover from the kind of cognitive misappraisals so commonly generated by posttraumatic stress. These kind of misappraisals are precisely the kind of imbalanced thoughts which hinder athletes from performing their best, and have parallels with performance anxiety, lack of behavioral control, and difficulties with focus. In my clinical work, I also works with groups, helping disparate individuals find greater meaning through a deeper connection with the team.

My combination of sport experience and clinical work put me in a great place to help your athlete or team remove any obstacle to peak performance, and derive the powerfully life transforming lessons of sport.
